Both offices offer acupuncture and related services, with the Buckeystown office providing the added benefit of on‑site collaboration with The Source: Hormone Optimization and Wellness at Empowerment Manor.

We are in‑network with CareFirst BCBS (including all BCBS plans) and Aetna, and many other plans offer partial reimbursement for acupuncture.

Insurance & Payment

We know insurance can be confusing. Our goal is to make it as simple as possible to understand your options and use your benefits when available.

Plans we are in‑network with

Indigo Fox Acupuncture & Wellness is currently in‑network for acupuncture with:

  • CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (including all BCBS plans)
  • Aetna

If you have one of these plans and your policy includes acupuncture benefits, your treatments may be covered with just a copay or coinsurance, subject to any deductibles. Coverage varies by plan, diagnosis, and medical necessity.

Many patients first use their benefits for pain, migraines, or headaches, and then choose to continue care for hormones, digestion, sleep, and overall wellness.

Out‑of‑network & other insurance plans

If we are not in‑network with your plan, you may still have out‑of‑network acupuncture benefits. Many PPO plans offer partial reimbursement when you submit a superbill (a detailed receipt) for your visits.

We can:

  • Provide itemized receipts/superbills for you to submit to your insurance
  • Help you understand the questions to ask your insurer about out‑of‑network acupuncture coverage

Medicare, Medicaid, and certain HMO plans may have different rules; you are always welcome to contact us with questions.

HSA, FSA & self‑pay

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you can typically use those funds for acupuncture and related services.

For patients without coverage, or for services not covered by insurance (such as some coaching, courses, and private yoga), we offer straightforward self‑pay rates.

Checking Your Benefits

If you’re unsure what your insurance covers, we recommend asking your plan:

  1. Do I have acupuncture benefits with a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.)?
  2. Are my benefits limited to certain diagnoses (for example, pain or nausea)?
  3. What are my copay, coinsurance, and deductible amounts?
  4. Do I need a referral or preauthorization?

You can also contact us and we’ll be happy to check your benefits for you and plan your care.

Ready to schedule?

Most patients start with an acupuncture visit for pain, migraines, or another primary concern. From there, we can decide together whether to add cupping, Chinese Medicine–based nutrition support, coaching, tapping, or private yoga.
