Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a thousands‑year‑old medicine that uses very thin, sterile, single‑use needles to stimulate specific points on the body and support your natural healing response. Modern research suggests it can help reduce pain, calm the nervous system, improve circulation, and influence hormone and immune function.

Common reasons people see us for acupuncture include:

  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Hip, knee, and other joint pain
  • Chronic pain and overuse injuries
  • Migraines and recurring headaches
  • Perimenopause and menopause symptoms
  • PMS, PCOS, and cycle irregularities
  • IBS‑type symptoms, bloating, reflux, and sluggish digestion
  • Weight and metabolic concerns
  • Sleep issues and insomnia
  • Stress, anxiety, and low mood
  • Fertility and reproductive health for all genders

What an Acupuncture Visit is Like

  • Initial visit: We’ll talk through your health history, current symptoms, and goals; check your pulse and tongue (traditional diagnostic tools); and create a treatment plan. You’ll receive a full acupuncture session at this first appointment.
  • Follow‑up visits: Sessions are typically relaxing and restorative. You’ll rest comfortably with the needles in place for about 20–30 minutes; many people nap.
  • Frequency: Many patients start with weekly treatments, then space out visits as symptoms improve. We’ll adjust based on your response, schedule, and coverage. immune function.

In Buckeystown, acupuncture is also available on‑site for patients of The Source: Hormone Optimization and Wellness, offering an elegant, integrative way to complement HRT and GLP‑1‑based treatment plans.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a hands‑on therapy that uses gentle suction to lift the tissues, increase circulation, and release tight muscles and fascia. It’s especially helpful if you:

  • Carry tension in your neck, shoulders, or back
  • Have sore, overworked muscles from exercise or physical work
  • Sit at a desk or drive for long periods
  • Experience tension headaches or stress‑related tightness
  • Are an athlete who needs support staying in peak condition

Cupping can be done as part of an acupuncture treatment or as a stand‑alone service, depending on your needs and preferences. Choose from regular circular cups, heart-shaped cups, or a combination of the two. Seen on celebrities and professional athletes alike, there’s a reason cupping is so popular.

Online Courses

Chinese Medicine–Based Nutrition & Lifestyle

Dr. Jen has created self‑paced online programs that blend Chinese Medicine principles with modern nutrition and lifestyle practices to help you change how you feel from the inside out.

The Chinese Medicine Cleanse

A foundational program designed to help you:

  • Reduce inflammation and bloat
  • Improve energy and focus
  • Stabilize cravings and appetite
  • Begin releasing excess weight in a gentle, sustainable way

You’ll learn how to eat in a way that supports your digestion, hormones, and nervous system, not just your willpower.

The Advanced Chinese Medicine Cleanse – Coming Soon

A deeper‑dive, phase‑based program for people who want more structure and education about how Chinese Medicine sees digestion, dampness, and weight. It includes:

  • Clear food guidelines by phase
  • Education on qi, digestive “fire,” and dampness
  • Supportive lifestyle practices (movement, feng shui, mindset)

Both programs pair beautifully with in‑person acupuncture or can be done on their own from anywhere.

Other Courses

In addition to The Chinese Medicine Cleanse (and the upcoming Advanced Chinese Medicine Cleanse), Dr. Jen offers other online programs, including a three‑day intro detox and a seven‑day “Fuel Your Spirit” healthy eating reset.

1:1 Weight Loss Coaching

Weight loss is rarely just about food. It’s also about hormones, digestion, stress, sleep, and long‑held patterns around eating and self‑care.

In this premium, highly individualized coaching, Dr. Jen brings together:

  • Chinese Medicine–based nutrition
  • Nervous system regulation and stress support
  • Gentle habit change and mindset work

This service is ideal if you:

  • Have “tried everything” and are done with crash diets
  • Are navigating perimenopause, menopause, or PCOS
  • Are using (or considering) GLP‑1 medications and want support with side effects, digestion, and long‑term maintenance

Coaching can be combined with acupuncture or done entirely online, depending on your needs and location.

Tapping & Online Coaching

Tapping (also known as EFT) and acupressure‑based coaching sessions are designed to help you shift emotional patterns that feel stuck or overwhelming.

In these private sessions, Dr. Jen will:

  • Talk with you about your current challenges and “edges”
  • Guide you through tapping or acupressure protocols tailored to what you’re feeling
  • Teach you how to use the process on your own when difficult emotions arise

This work can be particularly helpful if you’re dealing with:

  • Stress, anxiety, or worry
  • Low mood or feeling “numb” or checked out
  • Self‑sabotage when things start to go well
  • Money, visibility, or success blocks
  • Emotional eating, cravings, or weight‑related shame

Sessions can be held online or in person, depending on your preference.

Private Yoga & Meditation Lessons

If group classes feel intimidating—or if you’re recovering from injury, surgery, or burnout—private yoga and meditation give you a safe, personalized way to build strength, flexibility, and calm.

Dr. Jen, L.Ac., RYT200 has been teaching yoga since 2006 and has extensive training in a variety of styles. In private or small‑group lessons, she will:

  • Design sequences tailored to your body, history, and goals
  • Offer modifications so you can participate safely at any level
  • Incorporate breathwork and meditation to support your nervous system

Private 1‑on‑1, semi‑private, and small‑group lessons are available.

Not sure where to start?

You don’t have to have it all figured out before you book. Many people simply start with an acupuncture appointment for pain, migraines, or another primary concern, and we build from there. Together, we can decide whether to incorporate cupping, nutrition work, coaching, tapping, or private yoga into your plan.

We offer convenient locations in New Market and Buckeystown and are in‑network with CareFirst BCBS (including all BCBS plans) and Aetna; many other PPO plans offer partial reimbursement for acupuncture.
